What Is Email Marketing

Akia’s email marketing feature allows you to send one-time email blasts or recurring drip campaigns to guests and drive repeat bookings and additional revenue. By collecting guest’s emails from your PMS and through Akia’s Mini Apps, we can send tailored email campaigns based on the guest’s stay information and encourage direct rebooking.

How Do I Create a Campaign?

Your email campaign has 2 steps, creating the content and then creating the campaign for the email template to be sent.

 

How Do I Create an Email Template for My Campaign?

  1. Go to the Marketing tab at the top of your Akia navigation bar
  1. Toggle from the Campaigns tab to the Email Templates tab in the top right corner: https://sys.akia.ai/campaigns/email_templates
      • Marketing email templates are not considered same as your automation email templates, so you will not be able to use your already-created email templates for marketing campaigns. If you need help moving any over, please reach out to us in the Support Chat or at help@akia.com.
  1. Select + New Template or + New HTML Template to use an email template you used from another platform

How Do I Create and Schedule a Campaign?

  1. Navigate back to the Campaigns tab of the Marketing page
  1. Click + New Campaign to begin creating your campaign
  1. In the top left corner, click on the pencil icon to give your campaign a name (e.g. Spring Campaign)
  1. Select the Frequency for your campaign, do you want it to be a one-time campaign or a recurring campaign sent to guests x days after departure?
  1. Target which guests you want to send your campaign to, you can also add any advanced filters based on the guest’s information to segment your audience group even more
      • Don’t want to offer discount codes to guests who have already booked a future stay? Exclude Future Guests from receiving the campaign
  1. Select the Content you want to send to the target group, this is the email campaign you made in the previous step
  1. You will see an estimated audience size if you have completed the above steps, and once you hit Done at the bottom, Akia will let you know how many credits will be used for this campaign
      • If it’s a recurring campaign, Akia will let you know roughly how many credits will be used per month
  1. Everything look good? Hit Start in the top right to schedule your campaign for the specified run date and run time

How Do I Cancel a Scheduled Campaign?

  1. Go to the Marketing tab at the top of your Akia navigation bar
  1. Click on the button on the scheduled campaign you want to cancel and click Cancel, this will cancel it and prevent it from sending in the future
  1. If you would like to remake the campaign, you can Duplicate it

How Do I Purchase More Credits?

Pricing for email campaigns is based on the number of recipients. Each unique email you send your campaign to will consume one campaign credit. If you would like to purchase more, you can hover over the counter to the left of + New Campaign to purchase more credits. Credits do not expire and will stay in your account until they are used.

How Do I View My Campaign’s Performance?

  1. Go to the Marketing tab at the top of your Akia navigation bar
  1. Scroll down to the list of your campaigns and click on the Campaign name to view the detailed campaign page

Use Cases

  1. 💵 Discount Code: Offer a discount code to guests who previously stayed to encourage them to rebook.
      • Include the discount code link or promo code in your email template so guests can easily rebook.
  1. 📰 Newsletter: Encourage guests to rebook by letting them know what’s happening around the property and any special events that might be held.
      • If you have guests specify their travel purpose to your property in your Mini Apps, tailor your newsletter by filtering your audience based on their previous travel purpose.
