What Are Browser Notifications?
The first time you log into Akia at sys.akia.ai, you will need to enable browser notifications to receive a notification each time a guest sends you a message.
You will receive notifications when there is an event that staff needs to action on or review. The notifications come in the form of "chimes" (audio) and "red bubbles" (visual). Additionally, if the Akia browser tab is not in the foreground, Akia will slide in a notification onto your computer screen, similar to that of an email notification.
Enable Browser Notifications
When you log into Akia for the first time, there should be an orange banner across the top of your screen. To receive notifications for new messages and requests, click the banner and select Allow or enable notifications through your browser.
Instructions by Browser
Chrome
Click on the "lock" icon next to the browser address bar, and then you can select Allow Notifications.
Safari
Click on Safari in the top left corner of your screen, go to Settings > Notifications, and select Allow for sys.akia.ai.
Firefox
Go to Settings, search for Notifications in the search-bar and click Settings to bring up the pop-up window shown below. Change the status for sys.akia.ai from Block to Allow and Save Changes to re-enable your browser notifications.
Microsoft Edge
Click on the “lock” icon next to the browser address bar to allow/block notifications.
Mute Akia
Sometimes you have a lot of guests messaging in or team chat messages at once. To mute the Akia website but still get the visual indicator, right-click the browser tab and click Mute Site.
Notification Timing
You will receive a notification for new messages and requests.
When a ticket has been open for five minutes, this creates another notification and is considered a Service Level Agreement (SLA) warning.
If a ticket remains unanswered after eight minutes, this creates another notification and is considered an SLA breach.
Optionally, you can set additional notifications outside of Akia in the form of a text message or phone call. Please contact Akia Support if you would like to use this feature.
Enable Mobile Notifications
Click on your profile in the upper right to access Settings. Disable notifications completely or configure how frequently you receive notifications on your mobile device. Make sure that you also have notifications enabled for Akia at the device level.
